   Suppression of blood glucose elevation

We investigated the hypoglycaemic action by the oral administration of refined Rice Kefiran using eight-week-old spontaneously diabetic male mice (KKAy). The dosing period was 30 days. We measured blood glucose levels on the baseline, 15th, and 30th days. In the variation per day of the blood glucose level measured on the baseline, 15th, and 30th days, the postprandial blood glucose concentrations in the control group sustained hyperglycaemia during the test period. On the other hand, it was observed that there was suppression of the blood glucose level increase in the two refined Rice Kefiran-fed groups on the 15th and 30th days. On the 30th day, the postprandial blood glucose concentrations in the 300mg/kg group showed significantly lower than those in the control group. In addition both kefiran-fed groups showed lower values than the control group in the fasting blood glucose concentrations as well as in the postprandial blood glucose concentrations.
